How sweet it was! Despite the fact that Thursday February 9th was a dull rainy day with the prediction of freezing rain and high winds, 24 hearty Probus chocoholics ventured out to St David’s to indulge in some soul soothing chocolate at the CFX Chocolate Factory.
We were able to watch through the glass as employees checked the quality control of chocolates as they spun in the copper kettles - all the while adding another coat of their magic potion. Another machine continually rolled the chocolates ensuring they were not sticking together and were evenly coated. Different flavours such as lemon, ginger, coconut, mint and yogurt are used while fruits such as cherries, blueberries and strawberries are coated as well. They even make their own sponge toffee and marshmallow covered chocolates. CFX ships their products all over Canada and the U.S. Numerous free samples were handed out - much to our delight, then we were turned loose in the gift shop where we could purchase more to bring home! Lunch followed at the Old Firehall in St David’s. The food and the service were excellent and the bonus was everyone preordered their meals. As soon as the staff saw us begin to enter, they began cooking and everyone was served within minutes of each other rather than having to wait a long time. As soon as all the drinks were served, the food started coming out. Everyone loved the idea and many suggested we should try to do this as much as possible on future outings. Surely something to consider. A fun time was had by all.
