John Murphy gets a HOLE-IN-ONE!

The morning of Thursday August 6th started out as a typical Probus Golf Group outing at Pelham Hills Golf Course until something unexpected happened on the 7th hole. John Murphy stepped up to the tee box of this 139 yard Par 3 hole and took his shot using an iron. The three other Probus members in his group (yes, there were witnesses) watched as John’s ball soared through the air heading straight for the pin. After it landed, no one could see where his ball was. It wasn’t until the golfers walked onto the green and found his ball in the hole that they realized that John had gotten a hole-in-one! These are fairly rare, as it’s estimated that 75%-80% of golfers will never make a hole-in-one in their entire lives. So what is most amazing is that this was John’s fourth hole-in-one! According to Google, the percentage of golfers who have made 4 holes-in-one in their lifetime is statistically microscopic, estimated at roughly 0.01% to 0.02% of all golfers. So congratulations to John as he has by far beaten the odds!
